Meet “Team Tumbleweeds”

Two days before Mother’s Day 2021, Justin and Jen officially became the owners of Tumbleweeds.  With two toddlers, purchasing the publication was bigger than a sale. Founder, Claudette Sutton passed the torch to the next generation to carry out the Tumbleweeds commitment of being the #1 resource for Northern New Mexico families.

Jen is a C level executive who has a passion for growing local businesses and building community.

Justin is a philanthropic professional who excels at stewarding relationships and connecting resources to community needs.

Tumbleweeds Magazine is an opportunity for the Schroer’s to combine their passion and expertise.  They will continue Claudette’s tradition of producing a treasured local parent resouce, while navigating parenthood themselves. 

Uma Platz

Uma Platz Bensak, Marketing Manager

Uma is from Buenos Aires, Argentina, and is Jen & Justin’s former Au Pair. She lived in New Mexico for almost two years taking care of their two kids. Her firsthand experience with family life and childcare, combined with her marketing skills and creativity, makes her uniquely equipped to connect with the magazine’s audience of parents and caregivers.

Narel Pillay

Narel Pillay, Production Manager

Narel Pillay, originally from South Africa, spent time in the U.S. as Jen & Justin’s Au Pair, where she gained a deep appreciation for balancing family life with creative work. Now the magazine’s Production Manager, she draws on her expertise in project planning, editorial logistics, and operational efficiency to keep every issue on track. Her ability to sequence deadlines, streamline processes, and deliver polished outcomes makes her the steady hand behind the magazine’s production flow.
