Cowgirls from Roy, NM compete in 2022 Youth World Championship Ranch Rodeo

Students of Roy Municipal Schools competed on November 12 in Amarillo, Texas, in the 2022 Youth World Championship Ranch Rodeo hosted by the Working Ranch Cowboys Association. The New Mexico youth team is called the Rim Rock Ranch, and they punched their ticket to the 2022 Youth World Championship Ranch Rodeo by winning the Colorado Championship Ranch Rodeo in Hugo, Colorado, in June.

The team of five cowgirls, Karlee Elliot, Chantzee Elliott, Stoney Price, Haize Price, and Maryann Estrada, took first place in Colorado. One of the Rim Rock Ranch teammates, Maryann Estrada, is the youngest competitor to ever qualify for nationals. The Rim Rock Ranch team represented New Mexico with honors and came home with fourth place in Branding, fourth place in Sorting, fifth place in Doctoring, fourth place in Trailer Loading, and fifth place in Wild Steer Racing. Team member Karlee Elliott was also awarded Top Horse. Congratulations, cowgirls!
