The Monte del Sol Charter School is a small school community where every student is known and respected. Currently, in its 24th year, curriculum includes advanced placement (AP) dual credit, and honors courses in humanities and STEM, and experiential, outdoor, and project-based learning. The mentorship program supports student-driven learning in multiple subjects. The sustainable college and career readiness program provides career and technical training with dual credit in sustainability, computer technologies, and culinary arts. NEW MEXICO SCHOOL FOR THE ARTS
High School
NMSA is New Mexico’s only free statewide public-arts high school that merges rigorous academics. In 2023, NMSA students surpassed state and national averages in their SAT scores—an achievement that highlights how studying the arts alongside other subjects significantly boosts student achievement. At NMSA, artists in grades 9–12 immerse themselves in their chosen discipline: creative writing and literature, dance, music, theater, or visual arts. NMSA’s students represent 39 communities and 17 Native American nations from all three New Mexico congressional districts. The Masters Program Early College Charter School has 260 students in grades 9–12 on the Santa Fe Community College campus. Students take core high school courses (required by the state) with charter school faculty, and may also take 11 college elective courses with college instructors. In living with a college schedule, students may have significant free time that they will manage by themselves. The SFPS Work-Based Learning program is a structured internship program that collaboratively engages local high-value employers and SFPS high schools offering junior and senior students quality paid internships, job-shadowing, and mentorship experiences. Participating high schools: Santa Fe High School, Capital High School, Early College Opportunities High School, Desert Sage Academy. Student intern benefits include participation in a boot-camp-style soft skills training pre-internship where students learn about professionalism, work ethic, effective communication, teamwork, and problem-solving. They build a résumé, learn about email etiquette, and practice interviewing skills while earning academic credit.
